Grand Pre MemorialHorizontal Panorama - (Use bottom scroll bar to see entire image)
The Grand Pre National Historical Park memorial was built in honour of the early Acadian settlers who were forcefully evicted in 1755. The park contains several remains of the Acadian period, and in the summer months the park offers visitors a colorful flower garden as well (for families, the garden alone makes the place very much worth a visit between May and August).
Pictured here is the main chapel building and the bronze statue of the fictional Evangline, who is the main character in Longfellow's poem about the Acadian expulsion, 'Evangeline'.
